Nici Kersey

Co-Founder and Vice President

Nici Kersey is an immigration attorney, entrepreneur, and fan of baseball (the game and the umpires). Hit with the realization that women were conspicuously absent among the ranks of MLB umpires, she decided to attend professional umpire school, despite having never played or called a game. The experience led her to establish a scholarship to encourage other women to attend, and it introduced her to a new community of supportive humans, including Greta Langhenry. Together, the two founded Level Ump to support women and other underrepresented groups as they pursue paths to careers as professional umpires.

Hailey Wendelstedt

Associate Board Director

Hailey Wendelstedt is currently an undergraduate student studying at Louisiana State University. Growing up, Hailey was surrounded by baseball and umpires, which allowed her to develop a deep appreciation for the job despite never working on the field herself. Having spent the majority of her winters at the Wendelstedt Umpire School, she has noticed a severe lack of women in umpiring. She hopes that she can change that by being a part of an organization founded by women to support women.
